A National Webinar on “Impact of Covid-19 on Migrant Workers, Employment & Economy: Special reference to Mizoram” will be organised by Govt. T. Romana College, Aizawl, Mizoram & Mizoram Youth Commission, Govt. of Mizoram on 19th August, 2020 at 7:30 PM.
CONCEPT NOTE:
With the outbreak of Covid-19 the impact on everyday lives has caused immense stagnation and halt among the migrant workers. Though there is no official data/record, thousands of migrant workers from Mizoram working mostly in the service sectors in different parts of the world has chosen to return home. The maximum numbers are from industrial/ IT capitals of India viz., Delhi, Bangaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, etc. These workers do not simply choose to return because of the lost their jobs but encounter with racial discrimination in the midst of the pandemic. Insecurity with joblessness coerced them to return home for safety but with unstable mind. To countered the hardship of this migrant workers, the Mizoram Youth Commission MYC took a bold initiative try to prepare a proper plan in order to provide at least minimum basic security to secure a job. As per the official records, there have been nearly 2000 migrant workers registered themselves under MYC and the process is still evolving.
In the above context, Govt. T. Romana College, Aizawl in collaboration with MYC plan to organise a National Seminar on the impact of Covid19 with special reference with Mizoram
vis-à-vis other parts of India particularly North East. The objective of the seminar is not only to creates awareness on the issues of migrant worker and their related problem but it also aims to provide a platform to generate knowledge on how to encounter the challenges brought by the pandemic. The seminar will also result in giving suggestive measures to the policy maker including the State Government to make a proper plan in providing basic minimum security among the rapid growing youth work force.

2nd and 4th Semester students of Govt. T.Romana College are informed to apply for readmissoin to 3rd and 5th Semester respectively. Re-admission will be opened during 3rd - 28th August, 2020 and re-admission fees will have to be paid throgh STATE BANK COLLECT (user guide). In view of the ongoing pandemic only students who are unable to pay through SBI Collect may pay their fees in the College counter.

3. Applicants who have submitted their application forms online but preferring to pay admission fee in the College will have to submit photo copies of their HSLC & HSSLC marksheet along with their HSLC Certificate.
4. Applicants who have submitted their application forms online and opting to pay admission fee online will have to send soft copies of their HSLC & HSSLC marksheet along with their HSLC Certificate to the email
5. On verification, if any fake document is found, their admission will be cancelled immediately.
6. Depending on the availability of seats, 2nd list of selected students will be notified on 28th July, 2020.
Following a beneficial and successful awareness programme with the UD&PA department, the Sociology department, Govt. T. Romana College took the initiative to hold another awareness programme with the Rural Development Department, with the goal of educating students about the various Rural Development Schemes that are part of their syllabus.
On the initiative taken by the Department of Sociology, Govt. T.Romana College, an awareness programme on selected schemes under the department was organised on February 15, 2024 by the Director, Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation (UD&PA) at the Directorate's Conference Room.
On 18th May, 2024, Graduation Dinner for outgoing students (2021-2024 batch)was held at KV Paradise, Durtlang. Formal session started at 1:00pm hosted by Mr. RD Lalsanglura and Ms Lalmawizuali Khiangte. The programme started with Bible reading and prayer offered by Mrs. Baby Lalramsiami, Head, Department of Education.
The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Zoramthanga inaugurated the newly constructed approach road to Govt. T.Romana College via ITI locality on the 10th February 2023. The road is 485 metres long and financed through the SEDP amounting to Rs. 464.9 lakhs. The construction of the road commenced on 16th January 2021.
Govt. T. Romana College salutes the heroes of Kargil War by celebrating the Silver Jubilee of Kargil Vijay Diwas on 26th July, 2024. The programme was organised by IQAC and National Cadet Corps, GTRC. It was chaired by Mr. Lalsangzela Pachuau, CTO NCC and Wing Commander HL Risanga (Retd.) was invited as a Resource Person. On this occasion, the Resource Person delivered a speech on the history of 'Kargil War' and how the Indian armed forces had corageously fought back against the Pakistani forces who had illegally occupied Kargil.
Govt. T. Romana College Observed World Environment Day 2023 by watering the trees and plants in the campus and adding manure whereever required.
