On August 5, 2022, the Eco Club of Govt. T. Romana College organized plantation of orchids in the campus garden to enrich the biodiversity of the campus. Some variety of orchids had been donated by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Chairman of the Club and Dr. Benjamin Ralte, Dept. of History. With the new addition, there are more than ten varieties of orchids. At present, within the campus, there are more than 40 species of plants being identified.
On August 1, 2022 Anti-Tobacco Awareness Programme had been jointly organized at the college campus by National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram and Anti-Tobacco Cell, Govt. T. Romana College. The programme had been organized in two parallel sessions. On the first Session, Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Secretary Anti-Tobacco Cell, GTRC was the chairperson and Dr. C. Lalremruati, District Consultant, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme was the resource person. In the other session Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala was the chairperson and Ms. Rebecca Lalruatfeli Hnamte, Psychologist, Aizawl East, National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram was the resource person.
In the two sessions, both the resource person delivered lecture on the harmful impact on the use and abuse of tobacco, affecting our health and our environment. They shared their personal experience on the various encounters they had on the misuse of tobacco in our society. They urged the student to be free from tobacco. The participants also pledge for anti-tobacco campaign. The college welcomes the programme and highly appreciated the effort given by of the National Tobacco Control Programme. More than 300 students attended the programme. National Tobacco Control Programme, Mizoram decided to organized more programme on anti-tobacco campaign in the near future at GTRC. The College has been declared ‘tobacco free campus’.

Govt. T. Romana College, Students’ Union organised Fresher Social Cum Graduation Day on July 26, 2022 at Vanapa Hall. In this occasion Robert Romawia Royte, Minister of State was the Chief Guest, congratulating all the newly graduate students and encouraged them to gives their best for the society and Mizoram. The Minister released TRC Annual Magazine ‘Raltiang’ and also handed over the awards donated by various personal to the meritous students of the college. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC had delivered a welcome speech to all the fresher and also felicitated the outgoing students. As part of welcoming the new students, Saikungpuia Sailo, Vice President SU conducted the ‘oath’ taking ceremony for all the fresher. Lalbuatsaiha, the topper in Sociology subject in MZU undergraduate examination was awarded Home Plus Award which includes a sum of Rs. 15,000/- donated by R. Lalthlamuana, an alumni of GTRC.
In the function Student Evangelical Union choir performed the welcome song. GTRC's pride - Thingsiri Cultural Club performed cultural dances and a beautiful song was presented by an outgoing student Vanlalthlahlovi. Then, all the outgoing students had been felicitated by Principal, moving their tassel from right to left. All the graduating students tossed their Graduation Cap as high as they could as a sign to go higher and higher. The formal function was concluded with a vote of thanks from Lalramchhan, Social & Cultural Secy.
In the second session, the informal program was handed over to the Music Society, Mr. Lalchhuanmawia and his teams. The students sang and danced their heart out, enjoying the moment. In 2022 there were 342 students graduated, and there are 556 newly admitted. At present, 1510 students have been enrolled at GRTC.
Mr. Lalengmawia, IAS, the Commissioner of Higher and Technical Education, paid a visit to Govt. T. Romana College on May 13, 2025. The Commissioner was accompanied by some officials from the Secretariat and the Directorate of Higher and Technical Education. A brief meeting was held in the Meeting Hall to extend a warm welcome to the Commissioner and his team. The meeting was chaired by Mr. R. Lalremliana, Vice-Principal of Government T. Romana College, who welcomed the Commissioner and the other officials and provided a brief overview of the College’s history.
6th semester students of the department of Public Administration, Govt T.Romana College attended training on Suntainable Life Skill: Rural Development Schemes at the SIRD&PR Auditorium on 4th April, 2025.
On 14th May 2025, Dept of Political Science, 6th Semester students and Faculties organized Voluntary works in Cleanliness and Beautification of College Campus with a focus to enhance the cleanliness and beautification of the College . Weeding, planting flowers and maintaining existing flowerbeds in different places within the College were done hoping to add vibrancy to the Campus landscape.
The Department of English, Govt. T. Romana College organised ‘Awareness on NEP 2020 for 4th and 6th Semester Parents’ on April 9, 2025. The programme was attended by 42 parents of the 2nd and 4th Semesters NEP students. The primary objective of the programme was to familiarise parents of the NEP students with the key aspects of the National Education Policy 2020, along with the new subject combinations offered under NEP.
The Awareness programme commenced at 1:00 pm. The Chairperson, Dr. Lalrinmawii Tochhawng, Associate Professor, Department of English started the programme with an introduction of the faculty members in the Department of English.
An awareness campaign on HIV/AIDS was held at the college campus by the Red Ribbon Club, Govt T. Romana College, in collaboration with the MSACS on the 5th March, 2025. The Resource Person was the Deputy Director of the Red Ribbon Club, Mrs. Lalneihzeli Sailo. She gave an awareness lecture regarding HIV/AIDS to the students. Two other Resource persons from the Positive Women Network of Mizoram, Linda Vanlalrimtuii and Rozampuii, gave their real-life testimony relating to their experience as women living with HIV/AIDS.
The Thingsiri cultural club of the college were invited to perform at the National Tribal Youth Festival 2025 organised by the Social welfare Department, Government of Mizoram at Kelsih on 10.4.2025 where their performance was highly appreciated.
