Govt. T. Romana College on May 31st, 2023 organised Farewell cum Graduation Dinner for the outgoing final semester at Woodland Hills, Zonuam. In the formal programme the MCs were Mrs. Catherine Lalhruaitluangi, Asso. Prof. and Mr. Lalnunsanga, Asst. Prof. Mr. CVL Tlanhlua, Asso. Prof. graced the function with Bible reading and prayers. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal gave a formal speech to the gathering. She opened her speech with an appreciation to the student for being part of the college community and told the student to be the torch bearer of the college with hard work and honesty. On behalf of the staff of the college, Mr. C. Laldinsanga delivered a farewell speech asking the student to live with determination and tolerance in their future and, to be become a responsible citizen. At present there are 1498 students enrolled in the college out of which 453 students are in the final semester.
All the graduating students were given gift and memento by their respective Head of the Department. The student of the eight departments takes their moment on the stage giving one last special items as a student. After the formal session was over, photo session was held at the rooftop, which was followed by a fare well dinner. After the dinner, informal session was organised by the college music society at the rooftop.
The organizing committee deeply thanks all the outgoing students who took part in the events, the physical support of the Student Union, all the office staffs with their collaborations, the teaching staffs who were entrusted with different duties, and the Principal for her tireless support.
Dr. Benjamin Ralte was the Chairman of the organising committee, Mrs. Lalremmawii, Secretary and Lalngaihawmi, Treasurer. Other organising members includes Dr. Lalchhuanmawii, Mrs. Baby Lalremsiami, Mr. Lalnunzira and Dr. Sakhawliana.
FRESH ADMISSION:Govt T. Romana College opens admission to 1st Semester for the year 2023 from 22 May to 9 June, 2023. Direct admission is offered to candidates securing II Division and above in HSSLC Examination, 2023 on First Come, First Serve Basis. Admission can be done both in Online and Offline Modes in every working day during office hour. College Prospectus and Admission Form is available at Office Counter. Since NEP 2020 is going to be implemented from July,2023 session, candidates may face problems and confusions in admission process. Subject combination offered by the College may also need to be explained to the candidates. Therefore, Help Desk is set up with Professors on duty to help and guide candidates. READMISSION:
Readmission to 3rd Semester and 5th Semester will be done purely in Offline mode.
1. For 3rd Semester Readmission can be done during 15th May, 2023 – 14th June, 2023 in every working day during office hour. For late admission, a fine of Rs. 50/- per working day will be imposed.
2. For 5th Semester:
a) Students who wish to change core subject must apply in prescribed form and get permission from HODs of their present core and new core subjects.
b) Readmission to 5th Semester can be done during 27th May, 2023-14th June,2023 in every working day during office hour.
c) For late admission, a fine of Rs. 50/- per working day will be imposed.
On May 4, 2023 Finishing School 2023 was held at Govt. T. Roman College on the theme - Career awareness campaign on – Entrepreneurship, Armed Forces & Legal Services. For the past years Finishing School had been organised for the outgoing student to help and motivate them in their career after graduation. This year the event was organised by Student Support, Progression & Placement Cell, IQAC and National Service Scheme, GTRC.
The events were held in three parallel sessions – In Session I, the theme was ‘Entrepreneurship as a career’ which was chaired by Mrs. Baby Lalramsiami, HoD, Dept. of Education. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC welcome the resource person and all the participants. The resource person was Mr. Lalnunpuia, Director, Zonet Tv Pvt. Ltd & CEO, Famcart, the frontrunner in the field. The theme of the second session was ‘Career in Law and Legal services’, chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, Chairman, Legal Cell, GTRC. Mr. R. Lalremliana, Chairman, SSPPC welcome all the participants and encourage the student to work hard for success. Mrs. Lalthazuali Renthlei, Special Public Prosecutor, Govt. of Mizoram was the resource person and she had briefed the students the various steps that need to be taken in pursuing law as a career.
The third parallel session was organised under the theme, ‘Career opportunities in Armed Forces’, chaired by Mrs. Dorothy Zonunsangi, HoD, Dept. of English. Mr. Lalthansanga, P.O., NSS welcomed all the students who attended the session. Since the third session was main for those students interested in joining armed forces the college N.C.C. unit were the main participants. The resource person was Mr. Lalthuamluaia, Managing Director, ES & CS Coaching Centre (Eastern Solution & Consultation Services). The centre is expert in the field of assisting those students who tries to join the armed forces.
Anti-Drug Awareness and Zonun Zemawi Campaign was held at RUSA Hall, Govt. T. Romana College, Republic Vengthlang on the 17th of April, 2023. Students from the 4th Semesters attended this important campaign. Mrs. Baby Lalremsiami, Asso. Prof chaired the programme and also addressed the gathering, giving light on the dire situation caused by the rapid increase of drugs and drug abuse in Mizoram and its harmful effects. Prof. Malsawmliana, Assistant Secretary, Young Mizo Association also from the Dept. of History, GTRC was the keynote speaker. Prof. Malsawmliana also spoke briefly of the risks and dangers of drug abuse. He also addressed the need to preserve the honourable ways of the Mizo ancestors such as respect for elders and showing kindness towards all individuals in a world where right to freedom of speech both in reality and in social media may lead one to become rude to one's fellow beings. This is the second Anti-Drug Abuse Campaign organised in the college in the 2023 Even semester, the previous campaign was jointly organised with SHALOM on 6.3.2023.
On March 10, 2023, in collaboration with the Biodiversity and Nature Conservation Network (BIOCONE), the Eco Club at Govt T. Romana College hosted an awareness program on Nature Conservation and the Nest Box Project. As part of the event, several nest boxes were installed in the college campus.
In the previous year, the Eco Club at Govt. T. Romana College took the initiative to plant orchids on the campus, with the goal of enhancing the biodiversity of the campus. Members of the Eco Club donated various varieties of orchids, and now there are over ten different types of orchids present. To date, more than 40 species of plants have been identified on the college campus.
On 6th March, 2023, Legal Cell, IQAC, Govt. T. Romana College conducted Awareness Campaign on Cyber Crime and Constitutional Rights and Duties. Mr. H. Zodinsanga, Advocate, Advocates' Chamber, Khatla, Aizawl was invited to speak on the topic. The 105 students who attended the awareness programme were enlightened by the speech delivered by the resource person which was followed by a constructive interaction.
On 23rd February, 2023, a group of 10 students along with two teachers left Aizawl for the Local Immersion Programme for Higher Educational Institutions organised by the Planning & Implementation Department (Research and Development Branch) Govt. of Mizoram. Local Immersion Programme for Higher Educational Institutes aims to not only drive Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to the village level by leveraging the knowledge of Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) but also to empower the youth to make a difference through youth-ideated development initiatives. By simulating problem solving in communities through the lens of progressing towards the SDGs, where students will be given a unique opportunity to learn and hone the skills necessary to lead change.

Govt. T. Romana College observes Valentine's Day as a tradition by organising an awareness campaign among students to abstain from pre-marital sex, promote Celibacy until marriage and reach out to the needy. The college also organises a Blood Donation camp at times. This year on 14.2.23 the college organised an awareness campaign on the same topic and also organised a Charity Drive with the help of the Music Society of the college . The money collected for the selection of the songs performed by the Music society was distributed among the less privileged families in the locality near the college.
