A National Level Workshop on Capacity Building Programme on Social Science Research will be organised by OKD Institute of Social Change and Development, Guwahati, Assam & Dept. of Political Science, Govt. T. Romana College, Aizawl, Mizoram. The workshop will be held on 11-13 March, 2020 at Aijal Club Conference Room, Aizawl.
The workshop will focus on the research priority in North East India, including Qualitative and Quantitative research methodologies. Following the ECI's nation-wide Electors Verification Drive commencing from 1st September, 2019, the Aizawl District Election authority organised the launching programme of Electors Verification Drive at Govt. T.Romana College today (2nd September, 2019). The Programme was launched by Shri Vanlalngaihsaka, IAS, Dy. Commissioner, Aizawl.
In his speech, the Deputy Commissioner pointed out that the Election Commission of India is aiming to improve the health of Electoral Rolls and provide better electoral services to the citizens. He requested the students attending the programme to verify their electoral details through this Programme.
Shri Malsawmzuala, Asst CEO and Mr. Lalfakzuala, Election Officer also delivered awareness messages on EVP and Summary Revision of Electoral Rolls and provided various useful web links for EVP to the students.
The programme was chaired by Dr. Lalrintluanga, Principal, Govt. T.Romana College and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. C.V.L.Tlanhlua, Associate Professor.
After conducting an inter-disciplinary research on Tachhip Village for about 3 years, a book of research findings named Tachhip was released on 29.8.2019 at Tachhip Community Hall. The book was released by Pu Ralkapthanga, President, Village Council, Tachhip.
Dr. Vanlalchami, who is a Secretary of Research & Consultancy Cell under IQAC of Govt. T.Romana College, in her report stressed that the main objective of the project was to study the various aspect of Tachhip Village from the point of view of its history and historical relevance; its contribution to the Mizo Literature; its socio-political set up and administration; its economy and relevance.
The book 'Tachhip' contains 154 pages and its introductory part contains 22 pages. The book was printed at Loisbet Press and it bears ISBN 978-81-939434-8-9.
First Aid Training and Awareness Campaign on Drug Abuse was held in the College on 22nd August, 2019 at 11:00 A.M.
The Programme was chaired by Mr C.Laldinsanga, Associate Professor and Dr R.Lalthangliana, Hon'ble Minister i/c Higher & Technical Education, Govt. of Mizoram graced the function as Chief Guest. In the Programme students of Govt. T.Romana College signed the Promised Keeper Card and vowed to abstain from all substance abuse.
The Chief Guest spoke on the importance of self-discipline and self control. He was pleased to see the effort of the College in trying to render a wholistic development of the students and wished the best to the Promise Keepers who vowed to abstain from all kinds of substance. Other guest speakers include Pu Chawngthankima, District Education & Media Officer, Pu H.Ngurthansanga, Vice Principal Govt. Mamawiii Higher Secondary School and Dr. Lalramsanga, Medical Officer, Emergency Deptt., Civil Hospital, Aizawl. At the end of the programme vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, co-ordinator, IQAC.
Under the initiatives of Innovative Practices Cell (IQAC), Green Audit Committee and Eco Club of Govt. T.Romana College, a Plastic Free Campus was inaugurated on 7th August, 2019 (Wed) by Mr. PC.Lalhmingthanga, Mayor, Aizawl Municipal Corporation. The Inaugural Programme was attended, among others, by Dy. Mayor and four Councillors of Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC).
On declaration of a Platic Free Campus, the following single-use Platic Items are banned inside the Campus:
1. Disposable Plates
2. Disposable Cups
3. Disposable Spoons & Forks
4. Polythene bags
5. Packaged water
A notification has been issued by the Principal on the 7th August, 2019 regarding banning of single-use plastic items. The Principal, in his notification requested all stakeholders, authority and visitors to cooperate with the College for the success of the commitment made by the College.
Freshers' Social cum Graduation was successfully organised by the Students' Union on July 19, 2019 (Friday) at Vanapa Hall, Aizawl.
Dr R. Lalthangliana, H&TE Minister, GoM, graced the function as Chief Guest and released the 20th Annual College Magazine 'RALTIANG' in the First Session. In his speech, the Chief Guest encouraged the students to be confident in dealing with the challenges of the contemporary world. The College Principal, Dr Lalrintluanga also pointed out that the College has been consistently having good results even though the College has never made any cut-off marks for admission. During the function various Awards instituted by the College were given to meritorious students of the last undergraduate examination.

The four-day NE Natya Sangam jointly organised by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, Dept of Art & Culture and Govt. T. Romana College was successfully closed on February 28, 2019.
The Festival, which had performers coming in from all Eight states of the North East and officials from Delhi, was held at T. Romana College, Vanapa Hall and Electric Veng YMA Hall. The organisers and audience were privileged to witness performances of theatre and dance from professionals from all over the North East. The parallel programmes of a National Seminar and a Mime Workshop were also successfully concluded.
Speaking at the close of the festival, Art & Culture Director commended T. Romana College for their efficiency as hosts and the Sangeet Natak Akademi for their able leadership in the conduct of such a festival.
Govt. T.Romana College will be hosting the North East Natya Sangam - A festival of contemporary theatre practices, traditions and diverse cultural expressions of India between 25th - 28th February, 2019. A two-day National Seminar on the theme 'Perspectives: Theatre in North East India' will also be held during the occasion.
