Student Support, Progress & Implementation Cell of Govt. T. Romana College organised Finishing School 2022 for the outgoing students at the College on 26 May, 2022. The Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki welcomed all the resource persons and the graduating students. The programme was organised in a parallel sessions. First session was organised for students trying to pursue Civil service and Law as their career. The session was chaired by Dr. Vanlalchami, Asst. Coordinator IQAC. In this session, the first resource person – Lalhmingmawia Ralte IRS, Add. Commissioner CGST and member of Mizoram Youth Commission delivered motivational speech for civil service aspirants and the initiative taken by the MYA. The other resource person Lalchhunga Asst. Public Prosecutor Aizawl District gave inspiring speech on ‘legal literacy and its benefits’ and law as a career.
In the other session, R. Lalremliana, Chairman of Student Support, Progress & Implementation Cell chaired the session. The resource person Capt. Lalrengpuia. Commandant, CTI, Mizoram Home Guards & Civil Defence delivered a lecture on ‘why and how to join the forces”. The college NCC wing and students aspiring to choose force as their career joined this session. Both the sessions have been followed by interective sessions which helps qnd benefited the students. CLV Tlanhlua delivered vote of thanks to all the participants and for the fruitful interaction of the resource persons with the students.
Govt. T. Romana College has successfully celebrated ‘Graduation Dinner’ for Class of 2019-2022 on May 24, 2022. Overall, 399 students will be graduating this year. The ceremony function was organized at Vanapa Hall –Catherine Lalhruaitluangi Chhangte and Lalnungsanga hosted the programme, and Rosy Lalrinsangi graced the function with Bible reading and prayer. C.V.L Tlanhlua briefly outlined the story of two of our beloved student Imanuel Lalawmpuia (6th Sem., Dept. of Political Science) and T. Vanlalzuii (5th Sem., Dept. of History) who had left for heavenly abode and all stood in silence for a minute in remembrance. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC delivered a short memorable speech, encouraging the graduating students to be honest to oneself to succeed in their days ahead. Melodious songs were presented by two of our soloist Golden Lalbiakchami and Lalduhthlani, and group song was presented by the faculty members on the one and only ‘we are the world’. All the eight departments of the college presented a slide show of five minute each recapturing their department activities. The graduating students were given a memento by the concern Head of the Department. Prof. Malsawmliana delivered a parting speech and the function was concluded with a photo session of each department along with their teachers and the Principal.The second session was held at the college campus starting with the dinner accompanied by live music band from the Music Society led by Lalhmachhuana and his team, serenading the audience the whole evening. The Graduation Dinner has been organized after a gap of two years due to pandemic and the graduating student truly cherished the day with their hearts and soul. The success behind Graduation Dinner is the Committee headed by Dr. Lalhmachhuana and P. B. Lalawmawmi as the organizing secretary with their team –Dr. Lalchhuanmawii, Dr. Laltanpuii Rokhum. Dr. Jasmine Lalremmawii, RD Sanglura, C. Lalzawmsanga and Dr. Joseph K Lalfakzuala The committee truly appreciates the contribution of the student, faculty, administrative staffs, the local community and the decoration Sub-Committee led by Ramdinliani and C. Lalzawmsanga in particular for the success of the event. Fare thee well !!!

On May 20, 2022 the Dept. of Sport & Youth Services (Adventure, Scouts & Guide Wing), Govt. of Mizoram and Govt. T. Romana College have successfully conducted Mock Drill on Disaster Management in the College campus. Around 150 students from GTRC and 5 trained personal from DS&YS have participated in the mock drill. DS&YS team was led by Lalngilneia Colney, Youth Welfare Officer and Mr. R. Lalremliana led the GTRC team including the Faculty, NCC, college adventure club and Students’ Union leaders. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal, GTRC graced the programme and thanks all the participants, and highly appreciated the DS&YS for sharing their expertise on disaster management.
Govt. T. Romana College on April 27, 2022, celebrated the achievement of their cultural body - Thingsiri Cultural Club which received trophies in three consecutive cultural competitions. The club was awarded first position in Cheraw (Kantluang) in Mizo Student Union Cup, second position in Cheraw (Buhzaai) in MZP Inter College Cultural Competition and second Position in Tribal Dance Hunt-Aizawl district. All the competitions were organized in the month of April 2022. In this celebration, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC gave the welcome speech and talked on the brief history and origin of the College and the Cultural Club. Mr. C. Lalrambuatsaiha, President, Mizoram Journalist Association, the Chief Guest delivered motivational speech and encouraged Thingsiri Cultural Club that they represent the Mizo cultural identity wherever and whenever they perform. The function was attended by the members of MJA, cultural clubs, MZP & MSU. The function was concluded with vote of thanks from Dr. Lalchhuanmawii the teacher in-charge of the Club. Thingsiri Cultural Club was formed in 2010, since then, it has been invited and performed across the Country.
Eco Club and NSS Unit of the College observed Earth Day on 22 April, 2022. The Event was observed by cleaning the College campus and the surrounding areas in Republic Vengthlang. Sixth Semester students from different departments were assigned to clean specific areas. Besides the cleanliness programme, awareness on banning of one-time use plastics was also included in the event.
Thingsiri Cultural Club of Govt. T. Romana College performed in KELEIDOSCOPE - A festival of Intangible Cultural Heritage of India. Kaleidoscope is organised to commemorate Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav—a year-long celebration of 75 years of Indian Independence. The 10-day event showcases the rich cultural heritage of India through a series of literary talks, film screenings, indigenous crafts workshops, oral storytelling, and cultural performances.
The event was organised by Sangeet Natak Akademi, Ministry of Culture between 21st - 30th March, 2022 at Rabhindra Bhavan, New Delhi. Thingsiri Cultural Club which was instituted in the College in 2010 has received several awards in Mizoram and performed in various parts of the country.
On 22nd March 2022, NIELIT Aizawl and ICT Cell, Govt.T.Romana College organised a One-Day Workshop on " Awareness on Cyber Security and Emerging Technologies" for the 6th Semester students, at RUSA Hall, Govt. T. Romana College.
The Department of ICT, Govt. of Mizoram handed over 10 desktop computers to Govt. T. Romana College on 7th March, 2022. A short function, chaired by Dr. Lalchhuanmawia, chairman EK Cell, Govt. T. Romana College, was held in NEILIT Computer Learning Centre in the College. The function was graced by Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, IRS, Secretary ICT, Govt. of Mizoram as chief guest. The Principal Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki thanked the Department of ICT and assured the Department that the College will make good use of these computers.
Three-Day International Webinar was organized by the Dept. of Education and IQAC Govt. T. Romana College on the theme ‘Capacity development of skills for work and life’
on 16th ,17th and 18th February 2022. The webinar was organized through Google Meet, with 186 registrations. Participants were from final year/passed out students of Education department, research scholars and faculties from different colleges /institutions.
The first night of webinar was chaired by Mr Lalhmachhuana, Associate Professor, Department of Education, GTRC. Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal GTRC and patron of the webinar delivered a brief welcome speech. The resource person Prof. Lallianzuali Fanai, IASE presented a paper on ‘Strategies for entering the teaching profession: preschool stage to higher education’.
Dr. L.V Zodinpuii, Associate professor, Department of Education, GTRC chaired the second night of webinar and the following two papers were presented.
1. Significance of language skills for upward mobility - Lalduhawmi Thomte Dy Director, SCERT
2. Transforming life towards integrity and harmony through education - Mrs. Baby Lalramsiami & Dr K. Sarah, Department of Education, Govt T.Romana College
The third and final night of webinar was conducted by Rosy Lalrinsangi, Associate professor, Department of Education, GTRC and following papers were presented.
1. Identifying career opportunities in Mizo youth, how do I get there? presented by Sylvine Lalnunhlimi, junior scientist, Kings College, U.K.
2. Careers development on skills and employability and empowerment focusing within Mizoram - Lalhriatpuia Khenglawt, Managing Director, Inspire Management Group, U.K.
To close the webinar programme, Mr. CVL Tlanhlua, Department of Public Administration and Coordinator of IQAC, Govt’ T.
