Govt. T.Romana College attained its Silver Jubilee in 2017, having been established on June 3, 2017. A Silver Jubilee Organising Committee was formed with several Sub-Committees under it to devise and implement programmes and projects to commemorate the occasion.
I. JUBILEE CELEBRATORY FUNCTIONS :

Two formal Jubilee Celebrations were organized on separate occasions. The fest event was organized on April 6, 2017 at Vanapa Hall for students and ex-students. The second and main celebratory function was held on June 2, 2017 at Synod Conference Centre, Aizawl for present and past Staff, Board members and other stakeholders. Pu R.Vanlalvena, MLA, Mizoram graced the function as Chief Guest, accompanied by the Director and Joint Directors of Higher and Technical Educaltion Department, Mizoram.
II. Social Work at Chite Lui, Aizawl : The Save Chite Lui project was launched on March 2, 2017 in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Aizawl. A 500 strong team of staff and students from the College participated in the event.
III. National Integration & Medical Camp : His Excellency, Lt. Gen. Nirbhay Sharma, the Governor of Mizoram inaugurated the National Integration and Health Camp, 2017 on March 28, 2017. This programme was organized by the College in collaboration with the Indian National Fellowship Centre (INFC), Mumbai. A team of three (3) Doctors from INFC and nurses from MCON saw more than 600 patients comprising students, the community of Republic Vengthlang, location of the College Campus and the community of Tachhip, the colleges adopted village.
IV. Students’ Exchange Programme & Innovative & Entrepreneurship Workshop : As part of the National Integration Camp, from Nitte University, Mangalore and ML Dahamikar College of Commerce, Mumbai, visited Govt. T.Romana College.
Selected students of the college participated in the exchange programme. A cultural exchange programme, which also served as a Closing function for the event, was held on March 31, 2017 with Pu R.Vanlalvena, Hon’ble MLA, as Chief Guest.
The innovative & Entrepreneurship workshop for select students of the college, as well as children of Tachhip Village were conducted on two separate occasions by Ms. Butod Abbas, an architect and Alumni of IIT, Kanpur.
V. Voluntary Blood Donation : The college organized a Voluntary Blood Donation on March 29, 2017 at the New Campus, Republic Vengthlang for use in the Aizawl Civil Hospital 171 units of blood were donated at this event.
VI. Production of Commemorative Items : Commemorative items such as a Souvenir, Bookmarks and Key chains were produced and released during the celebratory period.

The Hon'ble Chief Minister of Mizoram, Pu Lal Thanhawla laid the foundation stone for the new campus of Govt.T.Romana College at Republic Vengthlang on 4th November, 2016. The occasion also marked a day of thanksgiving to the Almighty and to stakeholders in the Government as well as the community, through whose efforts Govt.T.Romana College now has its own enviable campus at Republic Vengthlang, Aizawl. The Hon'ble Ministers in the Government of Mizoram Pu Lalzirliana (Home, etc) and Pu H.Ruhluna (Education, etc) as well as the Hon'ble MLA Pu R.Vanlalvena and Commissioner & Secretary Pu Benjamina also graced the occasion in the presence of leaders of various NGOs of Republic Vengthlang and the GTRC fraternity.
Legal Awareness Campaign on 'Sexual Harassment Laws & Protection of Women under IPC' was organised by Equal Opportunity Cell, Govt.T.Romana College in collaboration with Mizoram State Legal Services Authority on 10th February, 2017 at the College campus. Faculty members of the College and Second Semester students numbering around 300 attended the programme. Presentations were made by the two resource persons Mrs V. Vanlalruati, SCERT, Aizawl and Mr Lalnunsiama, Advocate from Mizoram State Legal Services Authority.
On 10 th February,2017 the College Equal Opportunity Cell also organised a Special Lecture on Personality Development. Prof. HK.Laldinpuii Fente, Psychology Department, Mizoram University delivered the lecture. The Programme was attended 180 Sixth Semester students of the College. Both the programmes were sponsored by Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
A two days National Seminar on “Role of Libraries in Changing Society: Problems & Prospects” organised by Govt. T. Romana College, was held on March 17 & 18, 2016 at I & PR Auditorium & Conference Hall. The Seminar was sponsored by UGC NERO, Guwahati & ICSSR-NER, Shillong and in collaboration with Mizoram Library Association.
The inauguration of the Seminar was chaired by the organizing chairman, Dr. Malsawmliana. Mr. S. Lalnunpuia, Organizing Secretary gave an introductory speech which was followed by a warm welcome speech by Dr. Lalrintluanga, Principal, Govt. T. Romana College. The keynote address follows from Prof. Pravakar Rath, Dean, School of Economics, Management & Information Science, Mizoram University. The Chief Guest, Mrs. Thanhliri Pachuau, MMS, Secretary, Art & Culture, Govt. of Mizoram then delivered a very informative speech.
In this Seminar, more than 120 participants registered of which Library professionals, experts, academicians, researchers, representatives from YMA branches and students participated. The outcome of the seminar is expected to provide a new and fresh experience and future plan for the development of Library services in the society.
In this seminar, 4 key paper and as many as 21 papers are presented by Library professionals, professors, researchers and even one paper from the student.
The valedictory function was chaired by Mr. Lalsangzela Pachuau, Organizing Member and a report was given by Mr. S. Lalnunpuia, Organizing Secretary. Prof. Ngurtinkhuma, HOD, Dept. of Library & Information Science, MZU delivered his summary of the papers, and the chief guest Dr. Lalremsiami, Librarian, Central Library, MZU delivered her speech. The seminar was then closed with the distribution of certificates to the participants.

The NSS Unit, Govt. T.Romana College organised a voluntary Blood Donation Camp in the College on 10th February, 2016. This is a part of the regular activities of the NSS Unit of the College. Blood Bank staff from Civil Hospital, Aizawl came in the College campus and collected the donated blood. 122 units of blood were donated by 86 male students and 36 female students for Civil Hospital, Aizawl. During the session 2014-15 the NSS Unit of the College donated 200 units and was awarded 3rd prize in Voluntary Blood Donation among the Institutions of Mizoram.
A Two-Day UGC Sponsored National Seminar on “Child Rights and Child Protection: Issues and Challenges” was organized by Govt. T. Romana College in collaboration with Mizoram State Child Protection Society, Social Welfare Department, Govt. of Mizoram on 8th – 9th July, 2015 at I & PR Auditorium, Aizawl. The seminar was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Minister Mr. P.C. Lalthanliana, Social Welfare Department under the chairmanship of Mrs. P.B. Lallawmawmi, Asst Professor, GTRC and Seminar Coordinator. The inaugural session invited speeches from the Chief Guest Mr P.C.Lalthanliana, Dr. Lalrintluanga, Principal, GTRC and the keynote address was delivered by Prof. Srinibas Pathi, Dean, School of Social Sciences, Mizoram University.
The seminar consisted of six technical sessions with 16 Resource Persons attended by students, college teachers, research scholars as well as representatives from NGOs.

Of Sociology, GTRC, followed by the Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. Laltanpuii Rokhum, Member, Organising Committee, Deptt. Of Sociology, GTRC.

A National Seminar on 'Quality Assurance in Higher Education' was successfully organised by Govt. T.Romana College on 22.5.2015 at I&PR Conference Hall, Aizawl. The Seminar was sponsored by UGC and jointly organised by the Department of Education, Govt. T.Romana College and Mizoram Educational Foundation (MEF). The Inaugural Function was chaired by Dr Lalrintluanga, Pricipal, Govt. T.Romana College and inaugurated by Pu R.Lalrosanga, Director, H&TE, Govt. of Mizoram. Keynote Address was given by Prof. G.C.Nanda, HOD, Department of Education, Ravenshaw University, Cuttack, Odisha.
Academicians and students from various colleges in Mizoram attended the programme which was held in two technical sessions. Fourteen papers were presented and the Resource persons include professors from colleges in Aizawl and Mizoram University as well as research scholars.

Govt. T. Romana College was accredited with ‘B’ Grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) on 10.12.2014. The College was visited by the NAAC Peer Team during 23rd - 25th September, 2014 for re-accreditation. The Peer Team consisted of Dr. Sudhamahi Regunathan, Chairperson, New Delhi; Prof. Swarna Latha Das, Member coordinator, Gauhati University, Assam, and Dr. Sukriti Ghosal, Member, Burdwan, West Bengal.
The College authority and the Steering Committee sincerely thanked all the faculty members and students as well as alumni, parents and other students’ bodies of the College for their support and efforts during the Peer Team Visit..
Earlier, the NAAC Peer Team visited the College for the first cycle of accreditation during January, 2007 and was accredited with C++ by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
As part of its regular activities, the NSS Unit, Govt. T.Romana College and Red Ribbon Club organised a voluntary blood donation camp in the College on 16th October, 2014. This is the second time the NSS Unit of the College organised such camp in 2014. Blood Bank staff from Civil Hospital, Aizawl came in the College campus and collected the donated blood. One hundred and seventy (170) units of blood from 119 male students and 51 female students were donated for Civil Hospital, Aizawl.
