Govt T. Romana College opens admission to 1st Semester for the year 2025 from 7 May, 2025. Admission is offered to applicants on First Come First Serve basis depending on the availability of seats. Admission can be done both in Online mode as well as Offline Mode on every working day during office hour. Admission Form is available at Office Counter. Help Desk is set up with Professors on duty to help and guide applicants. Applicants are advised to approach the HELP DESK for any problems and queries.

Finishing School 2025 was jointly organised by Student Support, Progression & Placement Cell, IQAC & Entrepreneurship Knowledge Cell, GTRC at the College Campus on April 28, 2025. The programme was orgnaised in three parallel sessions with three different themes.
Resource Persons:
1. Ms. Jessica Lallawmzuali, MPS
2. Ms. Lalrinnungi Sailo, LLB
3. Mr. Kima Chhangte, Musician/Songwriter

Session I : Topic: Mental Resilience
The Session was held in Room No 501, chaired by Mrs. Ramdinliani, Member, SSPPC. Ms. Jessica Lallawmzuali, MPS delivered speech and held interactive session on the topic, explaining that Finishing schoolmental Resilience is an ability to cope with adversity and bounce back from difficult experience- mainly focusing on the importance of developing strong mentality, seeking support and practicing self care. Speaking from her experience, she talked about challenges to build a resilient mindset, contribution of self care, like exercise, healthy eating and sufficient sleep to mental well being, and the role of mental strength in developing , pursuing and realizing aims and goals.

Session II : Topic: Responsible Citizenship
The session was held in room No. 401 chaired by Mrs. Lalsangluri Sailo, Member,SSPPC. Ms. Lalrinnungi Sailo, LLB, Additional Govt Advocate, District Court, Aizawl delivered speech on the topic stressing on the need to be aware of one’s rights and duties, active participation in community and nation by upholding law, respecting others and contribute to the well-being of the society. It is important to recognize our place in the larger community and nation and understand the consequences of one’s actions – personally and on broader scale. Engagement in civic duties- participating in democratic process, volunteering in community initiatives, stay informed about current events, to make positive impact and act with honesty, integrity and accountability contributes to make Responsible Citizen. Moreover, in present situation, it is very important to know how to use Social Media in a desired ways.Finishing school4

Session III : Topic: Navigating Music: From Passion to Profession
The session was held in Room No.202 and chaired by Mr. Lalhmachhuana, Member, SSPPC. Mr. Kima Chhangte, Musician/Songwriter, HomeFree Music Production shared his experience and interact with students on the topic. He stated that music provides a significant journey that involves balancing artistic creativity with practical realities of a career. While music fulfills one, provides a sense of joy, expression and connection, it demands hard work and the ability to navigate a challenging industry and to develop a strong work ethic and continuous refining of one’s musical crafts and business skills. It is, therefore, very important to find a balance between one’s passion for music and the need to make a living and also other aspects of life. For musicians, creating and sharing their music is rewarding in many ways, not just financially.

Celebration of World English Language Day cum English Department Day

The Department of English, Govt T. Romana College, commemorated the ‘World English Language Day’ on April 23rd, 2025, coinciding with English Department Day and a farewell ceremony for the outgoing students. The event featured two sessions. The first session was presided over by Ms. Catherine Lalhruaitluangi, Associate Professor, who welcomed the Speaker, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, the Principal of Government. T. Romana College, faculty members and students. The chairperson highlighted the purpose of the event and reminded attendees that 23rd April also marks the birthday of William Shakespeare, a legendary English playwright and poet whose works continue to be cherished today.

A Special lecture was delivered by the Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, who previously served as the Head of the Department of English. She recollected her time as an English teacher, noting that in her experience, the faculty of English Department stands out as the finest compared to those in other Colleges. She underscored the significance of World English Language Day and its role in English dept2sbridging diverse cultures and backgrounds. Moreover, she elaborated that English ranks as one of the most widely spoken and studied languages globally. For this reason, it has become essential for students to learn English nowadays. In her closing remarks, she stressed that English transcends being merely a school subject, but a language that unites individuals around the world. As a token of appreciation for her interesting lecture, Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, Head of Department, presented a humble gift to the Principal. Thus, the session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Lalrinmawii Tochhawng, Associate Professor of the department.

Prior to the commencement of the second session, Dr. Lalrinmawii Tochhawng, Associate Professor and Miss Lalmawizuali Khiangte, Assistant Professor introduced the newly enriched departmental library and facilitated a pledge for book donations. As a result, more than 30 books were donated by the students in honour of World Book Day, which received commendations from the faculty.
The Farewell session was chaired by Dr.Vanlalchami, Associate Professor, who warmly welcomed the audience and emphasised the significance of the programme. The Chairperson invited each semester to present their special item. Accordingly, a melodious song was performed by the 4th Semester students. Subsequently, the 2nd Semester students entertained the audience with humorous pictures and video clips featuring the outgoing students, which they had curated themselves.
Thereafter, the chairperson invited Dr. Dorothy Zonunsangi, the HOD, to deliver a speech. The HOD expressed her appreciation for her colleagues' efforts in successfully undertaking such a well-structured programme that encompassed the celebrations of World English Day, Department Day, World Book Day, along with a Farewell event for the outgoing students, thereby creating a comprehensive academic initiative. She also underlined that 23rd April marks a significant milestone for the department of English, as it successfully integrates four important programmes into a single celebration.

Dr. Dorothy Zonunangi gave an insightful speech about the duties of students and subsequently delivered a farewell speech to the outgoing students. She encouraged the outgoing students to have a growth mindset, emphasising the importance of continuous learning and perseverance when challenges come their way. She further motivated that once the students join the department of English, they should explore literature beyond their normal courses. Since literature is a social document, she reminded the English Core students to stay aware of the current societal issues, particularly literature-related issues such as, Book of the Year awarded by the Mizo Academy of Letters, the Sahitya Academy Award and so on. On behalf of the department, she extended her best wishes to the outgoing students for their future endeavours.

Following the speech, a cake-cutting ceremony was conducted by the representative of each class. A farewell cake was generously donated by the 4th-semester English core students through their contributions. Mementoes were presented to the outgoing students, with each mentor handed over a gift to their respective mentees.
Outgoing students such as Malsawmtluanga and Lalchenpuii recollected their fond memories of the institution in general and the department of English in particular and expressed their gratitude to all the faculty and their fellow students. Thereafter, representing the outgoing students, Malsawmtluanga delivered a speech in which he expressed his gratitude to his teachers and recounted some humorous experiences to his juniors. He concluded his speech with a poem he composed during his time in high school. As a token of love and gratitude, the outgoing students donated a water filter to the department. The Hod received their thoughtful donation with appreciation.
Last but not least, the outgoing students also performed a lovely song accompanied by harmonious musical instruments.

English dept s

The day ended with capturing memories with photo sessions. The entire program was well-organised, filled with amazing memories and fun. To sum up, the ‘English Language Day’ cum ‘Farewell event’ was a resounding success, inspiring students to appreciate the global significance of English language in today’s interconnected world.

The Hon’ble Governor of Mizoram, Gen.(Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh PVSM, AVSM, YSM(Retd), graced the function organized by Govt. T. Romana College on April 8, 2025 (Tuesday) to mark the award of the NCC Best College and Best Cadet in the North Eastern Region (NER), 2025 and felicitation of cadets at the College Campus.NCC Governor s1

Dr Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal of GTRC welcomed the Hon’ble Governor, as well as other dignitaries including Col. SS Kalia, Commanding Officer, 1 Mizo Battalion NCC, and gave a short report on the activities of the NCC in the College.

Speaking on the occasion, Col. SS Kalia, Commanding Officer, 1 Mizo Battalion NCC congratulated Govt T.Romana College on the achievement of the NCC, and lauded the efforts of its cadets, the support of the Principal and faculty of the College. He also expressed appreciation to the Hon’ble Governor for his inspiring leadership and concerted efforts in encouraging the activities of the NCC in the state.

The Hon’ble Governor Gen.(Dr) Vijay Kumar Singh PVSM, AVSM, YSM(Retd), felicitated the NCC cadets and CTO’s who have contributed to the College’s achievement. In his speech, the Hon’ble Governor expressed his joy in being able to share the College’s outstanding achievements and congratulated the students for being part of an institution that has taken tremendous efforts to instill valuable qualities in its students. He encouraged the students to take pride in the opportunities offered by the College, and of the NCC to ensure that the name of the institution continues to shine not only within the state, but also in the North East region and the nation.

NCC Governor3sThe NCC of Govt. T. Romana College, a unit of the 1 Mizo Battalion NCC, was adjudged the NCC Best College in the North Eastern Region (including Silchar) for the year 2024-2025. A student of the institution, Jacksy Lalhlimsangi JUO was also adjudged the Best Cadet in an award function organized at Guwahati on March 25, 2025 which was attended by Pu R.Lalremliana, Vice Principal of the College.

The occasion was also marked by felicitation of cadets by the Hon’ble Governor and performances by Thingsiri Cultural Club, and GTRC Alumni Lalsangliana, Youth Icon. Govt. T. Romana College had also been honored with the Best College award in the preceding year of 2023-24, and holds the record of receiving the award for the first time from Mizoram, and of receiving the award for two consecutive years.

In the NCC NER Annual Award Ceremony held at Kaleshetra, Guwahati on March 25, 2025, GTRC 1 Mizo Bn NCC received Best Education Institutes of NCC NER 2024-25 in College category from Mizoram. Govt. Mizo High Scool was awarded from School Category.
Reprensenting the college, R. Lalremliana, Vice Principal of the college received the prestigous award from Smt. Nandita Garsola, Minister of Sport & Youth Welfare, Govt. Of Assam.

GTRC Student Juo Jacksy Lalhlimsangi 1 Mizo Bn NCC, Silchar was award Best Cadet NCC NER 2024-25 from Army Wing & others category.

GTRC community congratulates the college NCC and Jacksy for the achievement and feel honoured for being awarded Best Institute from Mizoram for consecutive years.

Chapchar Kut Celebration at Govt. T. Romana College

Govt. T Romana College celebrated the Chapchar Kut festival on March 6, 2025, within its campus. The event was hosted by Mr. R.D. Lalsanglura and Ms. Lalmawizuali Khiangte. The Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, extended a warm welcome to the students, emphasizing the importance of preserving and remaining deeply connected to Mizo traditions. The Thingsiri Cultural Club presented a variety of performances showcasing traditional Mizo dances. Dr. Lalbiakzuali, Head of the Mizo Department, addressed the significance of Tlawmngaihna in contemporary society, highlighting the gradual decline of many age-old values.
The Felicitation Committee took this opportunity to honor outstanding students from the previous semester based on recent University examination results. All students and faculty engaged in the Chai-pui event, where participants congregated on the college grounds to perform the Chai lam dance. This was followed by Chhawnghnawh, during which participants playfully stuffed boiled eggs into one another's mouths.

A National Level Workshop on Securities Market & Investor Awareness Programme was organised at RUSA Hall, Govt. T. Romana College on 5th March, 2025 at 2:00 pm. The programme was organised by the Department of Economics, Govt. T. Romana College in collaboration with Mizoram Consumers' Union.

The programme was chaired by Mr. Thanglura, President, Mizoram Consumers' Union Headquarters. The resource person Mr. Joy Agarwal, AGM, SEBI, Kolkata talks about the role and importance of SEBI in regulating the securities market in India. The second resource person Mr. Samuel Lalthanliana, Asst. Professor, Govt. Hrangbana College highlighted the benefits of investing in mutual funds and the stock markets. An interactive session followed the presentations. The programme closed with vote of thanks from Mr. Lalremliana, HOD, Department of Economics. Economics and English students of the college attended the programme.

Cyber Crime Awareness Campaign

The Legal Cell of Govt. T. Romana College, in collaboration with the Cyber Crime Police Station, Mizoram: Aizawl, organized a Cyber Crime Awareness Campaign on 5th March 2025 at the Political Science Core Room.

Inspector MS Dawngliana Fanai (2nd OC, Cyber Crime Police Station, Mizoram: Aizawl) was the resource person for the event. The programme was attended by 6th Semester Political Science Core students, who gained valuable insights from the resource person's informative speech, followed by a productive interactive session.

Health Awareness and Medical Clinic at Sialsuk

Health Clinic Sialsuk

On February 21, 2025 (Friday), Govt. T. Romana College, in collaboration with ARDSI Mizoram Chapter, NVHCP, NP-NCD, NOHP, NPPCD, NMHP, TeleMANAS, and TATA-AIA, organized a “Health Awareness and Medical Clinic” event at Sialsuk village. The event was led by Govt. T. Romana College Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, with highly skilled doctors from the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Mizoram Government conducting a “Medical Health Clinic” for the residents of Sialsuk. 184 residents registered for the free medical check-up and treatments were given as required.

As part of the event, the Govt. T. Romana College ALUMNI also organized a ‘Charity Ride’ from Aizawl to Sialsuk, sponsored by RZR Auto Enterprise and TATA-AIA. The ALUMNI extended generous contributions to the Sialsuk Branch YMA as well.

Additionally, the NSS Unit of Govt. T. Romana College inaugurated a well-built “Farmers Waiting Shed” as part of their 2024-2025 Special Camping Programme. This was officially opened by Principal Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki. Furthermore, two newly constructed sheds were also inaugurated on the same day.

Alongside the Medical Clinic, a Health Awareness Campaign was held. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert L. Khawlhring, experienced doctors delivered important health-related information, and TATA-AIA (Health Buddy) provided insights into health insurance. The event also featured musical performances by talented singers, with Youth Icon 2024, Tv Lalsangliana, leading the entertainment for the attendees.

Department of English: Faculty Exchange Programme

In pursuance of the MoU signed between the Departments of English, Govt.T.Romana College and Mizoram Christian College, a Faculty Exchange programme was held on February 19, 2025. Two faculty members of each college were designated as guest lecturers to the participating departments and were assigned to the Core classes for the day. The Department of English, GTRC was honoured to host Dr Lalbiakdiki and Mr Lallawmkima Miller from MCC, while Dr Vanlalchami and Mr C.Zirsangliana represented GTRC at the MCC Campus.

The programme is the culmination of an MoU in which a Students' Exchange Programme had been conducted earlier between the two parties. Participating students and faculty members expressed great satisfaction over the successful conduct of the Exchange programmes and indicated interest in conducting similar programmes in the future.
