On February 21, 2025 (Friday), Govt. T. Romana College, in collaboration with ARDSI Mizoram Chapter, NVHCP, NP-NCD, NOHP, NPPCD, NMHP, TeleMANAS, and TATA-AIA, organized a “Health Awareness and Medical Clinic” event at Sialsuk village. The event was led by Govt. T. Romana College Principal, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, with highly skilled doctors from the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Mizoram Government conducting a “Medical Health Clinic” for the residents of Sialsuk. 184 residents registered for the free medical check-up and treatments were given as required.
As part of the event, the Govt. T. Romana College ALUMNI also organized a ‘Charity Ride’ from Aizawl to Sialsuk, sponsored by RZR Auto Enterprise and TATA-AIA. The ALUMNI extended generous contributions to the Sialsuk Branch YMA as well.
Additionally, the NSS Unit of Govt. T. Romana College inaugurated a well-built “Farmers Waiting Shed” as part of their 2024-2025 Special Camping Programme. This was officially opened by Principal Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki. Furthermore, two newly constructed sheds were also inaugurated on the same day.
Alongside the Medical Clinic, a Health Awareness Campaign was held. Under the leadership of Dr. Robert L. Khawlhring, experienced doctors delivered important health-related information, and TATA-AIA (Health Buddy) provided insights into health insurance. The event also featured musical performances by talented singers, with Youth Icon 2024, Tv Lalsangliana, leading the entertainment for the attendees.
In pursuance of the MoU signed between the Departments of English, Govt.T.Romana College and Mizoram Christian College, a Faculty Exchange programme was held on February 19, 2025. Two faculty members of each college were designated as guest lecturers to the participating departments and were assigned to the Core classes for the day. The Department of English, GTRC was honoured to host Dr Lalbiakdiki and Mr Lallawmkima Miller from MCC, while Dr Vanlalchami and Mr C.Zirsangliana represented GTRC at the MCC Campus.
The programme is the culmination of an MoU in which a Students' Exchange Programme had been conducted earlier between the two parties. Participating students and faculty members expressed great satisfaction over the successful conduct of the Exchange programmes and indicated interest in conducting similar programmes in the future.
An awareness programme on SWAYAM was organised in the College on 18th February, 2025 at 1:15 pm. The resource person Dr. Sukanta Roy, associate professor, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Mizoram urged the students of Govt. T. Romana College to register and pursue the online courses offered by SWAYAM. Dr. Roy was accompanied by Prof. Benjamin Lalrinsanga, State Nodal officer (NEP), Higher and Technical Education Department.
SWAYAM, is the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) existing Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) platform providing educational opportunities for a vast number of learners. It aims to bring the best teaching and learning resources to everyone, especially those who have yet to benefit from the digital revolution and access the knowledge economy.
In alignment with NEP 2020, the Ministry recognizes the need for SWAYAM to expand its existing offerings to identify and include courses aligned with industry needs and that enhance learners’ employability. To this extent, SWAYAM Plus will be launched in collaboration with leading industry players and ed‐tech companies to bring employability and professional development‐focused programs to its learners
In collaboration with Govt. T. Romana College and the Mizoram Arm Wrestling Association, the 1st Inter-College Arm Wrestling Competition was held on February 14, 2025 at Govt. T. Romana College ground under the theme "Empowering Youth to be Fit, Fierce, and Drug-Free." This event was graced by Pu Lalramsanga Sailo, Secretary, Sports & Youth Service, Excise & Narcotics Department, who presided as the chief guest.
In his speech, Pu Lalramsanga Sailo urged college students to stay away from harmful habits and to prioritize their physical and mental well-being by maintaining a fit and healthy lifestyle. He emphasized that these values are essential for achieving success and encouraged students to participate in such positive engagements.
During the event, Dr. Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, Principal of Govt. T. Romana College, expressed her gratitude and stated that the competition was organized with the belief that arm wrestling could serve as a platform to keep young people away from drugs while promoting discipline and perseverance.
The 1st Inter-College Arm Wrestling Competition featured four weight categories, with 56 arm wrestlers participating from 11 colleges across Mizoram. The winners in each categories were awarded medals along with certificate and prize money.
Alongside this event, other significant programs were also organized at the college. An awareness program on the dangers of drug abuse was conducted by Pi Zothantluangi Chenhrang, Inspector, Excise & Narcotics Department. Additionally, the Reserve Bank of India and TATA AIA conducted career guidance/awareness campaigns.

In celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, the 6th-semester were given lecture by Miss Dr. Laltanpuii, Associate Professor ,Sociology, on the 2025 International Women's Day,theme “Accelerate Action for All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”. The lecture explored the origins of Women’s Day, tracing its roots to the struggles of women fighting for equal rights and better working conditions. It highlighted how Women’s Day has evolved into a global movement, uniting women worldwide to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights. Miss Laltanpuii also discussed the progress and challenges faced by women in India, emphasizing advancements in education and legal frameworks while acknowledging ongoing issues such as gender-based violence and underrepresentation.
Govt. T. Romana College Thingsiri Cultural club put a spectacular perfornance of Mizo Cultural Dance at the Grand Octave 2025 at Jharkand on 25.03.2025.
On 19th February 2025 Pune Institute of Bussiness Management (PIBM) orgainzed Students Development Programme on Career Awareness at Government T Romana College. The resource person was Mr. CA Utkarsh Upadhyay, a distinguished corporate trainer and business advisor with over ten years of expertise in Finance, Accounts and Entrepreneurial education. Specializing in professional programs like CA, ASSA, US CMA and CIMA.
Mr. Utkarsh Upadhyay was accompanied by Mr. Manish Das, PIBM in charge of north-east and Mr. Jacob career guide in charge of Mizoram. The students were enlighten with different job opportunities which widened their knowledge regarding their future career.
On 26th March, 2025 two faculty members Dr. Lalchhuanmawii and Dr. Lalngaihawmi participated in Awareness Programme on Sexual Harassment of Women at Work-place Act 2013 at Dawrpui Multipurpose Centre, Aizawl.
The Department of Mizo organized a programme to commemorate International Mother Language Day (Pianpui Tawng Ni, Matribhasa Diwas) on 21st February 2025 in Room No. A-2. The event aimed to highlight the significance of preserving and promoting mother languages while fostering linguistic and cultural diversity.
