
Govt. T.Romana College observed a 2-day event as Cultural Day on October 17 & 18, 2018. The theme chosen for the event was ‘Aia upa zah’ (Respect for Elders). Students and members of the staff attended both days of the event in traditional and ethnic attires. The theme of the event was elaborated upon by teachers on the first day.
The main event held on October 18, 2018 at the College Campus consisted of a function, exhibition, outdoor and entertainment programmes. The Chief Guest at the function, Pu Zonunsanga Khiangte, MJA president congratulated the College on the organization of the event and commented on the College being a cultural hub with representation of different ethnic groups from both in and outside the State. The function also saw an address on the theme by the Keynote Speaker Pu L.Biakthianghlima, senior most faculty and special performances by student groups representing the Mara, Chakma and Assamese groups.
The second day also showcased an exhibition by the State Museum, Department of Art & Culture and by the College.
In addition to this, there were outdoor exhibits showcasing traditional games and dances. In the afternoon, an entertainment programme was conducted by students under the aegis of the Music Club which was followed by a feast in the College Campus.
The first-ever Cultural Day conducted by the College was a grand success with the celebration of traditions and inculcation of values.
On August 31, 2018 the Hon'ble Minister of Finance, etc., Pu Lalzawta laid the foundation stone for the new Library Building of Govt. T.Romana College. The new building is to be constructed with Rs 3.20 Crores sanctioned from the New Economic Development Policy (NEDP).
The function to commemorate the event was chaired by Pu C.Laldinsanga, Associate Professor, with the Principal, Dr. Lalrintluanga welcoming guests and expressing the College's gratitude to the Government for their support to the College.
Speaking on the occasion, the Hon'ble Minister encouraged students to the full advantage of the facilities and opportunities to them. He also reminded them that their biggest priority at the moment is education. The Minister congratulated the College on the progress and wished them well.
Dr. C.Lalramsanga, Secretary, Planning Department also pressed upon the students the need to be able to specialised and gain expertise in their respective fields in order to succeed.
The function closed with a proposal of Vote of Thanks by Dr. Lalchhuanmawia, Associate Professor. The happy event culminated in dinner for the special guests and staff members.
The NSS Unit, Govt. T.Romana College organised a voluntary Blood Donation Camp in the College on 21st August, 2018. This is a part of the regular activities of the NSS Unit of the College. Blood Bank staff from Civil Hospital, Aizawl came in the College campus and collected the donated blood. 185 units of blood were donated by 148 male students and 37 female students for Civil Hospital, Aizawl. This is the second time the NSS Unit has donoted blood during the session 2018-19.
On 22nd August, 2018 the NSS volunteers of the College participated in Mass Cleanliness Drive organised by All NSS Units, Aizawl. Thirty students including 2 NSS Programme Officers took part in the Mass Cleanliness Drive which involve cleaning the main roads within the city of Aizawl.

The new Academic Building of the College was inaugurated on July 25, 2018 by the Hon'ble Minister of H & TE Pu R.Romawia. The 140-crore building constructed with grants from RUSA and financial input by the College has 6 floors with an area of 60 by 35 feet. It houses a Conference Hall, 7 Smart Classrooms, a Computer Center, Language Lab and a free Legal Aid Clinic.
At the Inaugural function chaired by CVL Tlanhlua, Asst Coordinator,IQAC, Rev. C.Lalbiakhluna conducted the Thanksgiving followed by a Welcome & Introductory Speech by the Principal, Dr. Lalrintluanga. The Technical Report was given by Dr.Malsawmliana, RUSA Coordinator.
Speaking at the function, the Chief Guest, Hon'ble Minister Pu R.Romawia congratulated GTRC on their achievements and said that he was aware of the long and sometimes arduous journey of the College to reach its present status. He saluted the Principal and staff for their tireless efforts and wished the GTRC family the best for their future.
Other honoured guests who spoke at the function included Pu R. Vanlalvena, Hon'ble MLA, and Pu Ashish Kundra IAS, Commissioner & Secretary, Higher & Technical Education Department. Also present were officials of the RUSA Project - State Project Director, Addl State Project Director, members of the Board of Governors, NGO leaders of Republic Vengthlang and members of the Alumni Association. The function concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr Jenifer Lalbiakdiki, IQAC Coordinator.
The Hon'ble Chief Guest also planted a tree to commemorate the ocassion and the celebrations were closed with dinner at the College premises.

Vanlalruatfela 4th Semester participated in the 16th Junior National Bodybuilding Championship held in Hyderabad, Telangana, as he secured a National Bronze Medal. 🏅
This achievement marks a historic milestone as it is the first time a Mizo athlete has won a national-level medal in this competition. By ushering in this new chapter for the Mizo community, he has brought us great pride. We extend our heartiest congratulations to him on this significant success.

Govt. T. Romana College, successfully underwent “Energy & Green Audit” on 25 August 2025 to assess the initiative. The college qualified the requirements of Green audit as per A+ Grade. The certificate is valid till August 2028.

A Legal Awareness Programme on Child Friendly Legal Services to Children was successfully conducted on 19th February 2026 (Thursday) at Government T. Romana College. The programme was organised by the Mizoram State Legal Services Authority in collaboration with the Legal Cell, IQAC, and the Department of Sociology of the college.
The primary objective of the programme was to create awareness about child-friendly legal mechanisms, rights of children, and the availability of free legal services. The initiative aimed to educate students and faculty members about the importance of safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring access to justice in a supportive and sensitive manner.
C. Malsawmtluanga of Fourth Semester won the 1st Prize in India's Open Arm Wrestling Competition in Bhogeswari Indoor stadium, Guwahati on the 15th of February, 2026 organised by Clubdowntown.
C. Malsawmtluang had also won the gold medal in the First Inter- College Arm wrestling Competition organised by the college in 2025 .

On February 16, 2026 the Department of Public Administration organised Training of Sustainable Life Skill for students of 6th Semester at the State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD), Mizoram. Three faculty and 43 students participated in the training. This is the third consecutive year for organising such training for students.
It is a tradition in Govt. T.Romana College to observe Valentines Day by creating an awareness on safe sex and promoting celibacy until marriage. The college observed the same on 13th February, 2026 as the 14th of February falls on a Saturday.
