Soc International womens dayIn celebration of International Women’s Day 2025, the 6th-semester were given lecture by Miss Dr. Laltanpuii, Associate Professor ,Sociology, on the 2025 International Women's Day,theme “Accelerate Action for All Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment”. The lecture explored the origins of Women’s Day, tracing its roots to the struggles of women fighting for equal rights and better working conditions. It highlighted how Women’s Day has evolved into a global movement, uniting women worldwide to advocate for gender equality and women’s rights. Miss Laltanpuii also discussed the progress and challenges faced by women in India, emphasizing advancements in education and legal frameworks while acknowledging ongoing issues such as gender-based violence and underrepresentation.

A key focus was the deconstruction of traditional Mizo sayings that reinforce patriarchal views on women’s roles, urging students to critically examine these societal norms. The lecture also emphasized the understanding of feminism as a movement for social, political, and economic equality, seeking to dismantle gender-based oppression and support the empowerment of all women and girls. The lecture concluded by affirming that empowerment, rights, and equality must be accelerated in the fight for gender equality, encouraging students to actively engage in promoting these values in their communities.
