The Department of Mizo organized a programme to commemorate International Mother Language Day (Pianpui Tawng Ni, Matribhasa Diwas) on 21st February 2025 in Room No. A-2. The event aimed to highlight the significance of preserving and promoting mother languages while fostering linguistic and cultural diversity.
The programme was chaired by Mrs. Lalremmawii, Associate Professor, Department of Mizo. She welcomed the attendees and emphasized the importance of recognizing and respecting all mother languages as they play a crucial role in shaping cultural identity and heritage.
The keynote address was delivered by the Resource Person, Dr. H. Lalbiakzuali, Associate Professor & Head of the Department of Mizo. The resource person presented a paper on the importance of Mother's Languages for the development of Mizo languages among the students. The programme was attended by students of 6th semester, Department of Mizo, Govt T Romana College and the faculties
In her speech, she elaborated on the rich linguistic heritage of various indigenous languages and the challenges they face in the modern era. She stressed the need for collective efforts to preserve and promote mother languages through academic initiatives, literature, and cultural events.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. R.D. Lalsanglura, Assistant Professor, Department of Mizo. He expressed gratitude to the Chairperson, Resource Person, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation and support in making the event a success.
